Malta: Marsascala Mapei takes the Men's National League
Fleur de Lys FEB started the match well by winning the first set (25-18) with good attacks from Paul Tonna. Setter Patrick Bonett was instrumental during this set giving his attackers good opportunities to win points. Mapei seemed unable to react and gave Fleur de Lys a glimpse of a rematch in a week time. However this was not to be as Mapei, coached by Mark Hili, stepped up their game in the second set and levelled the set score.
Mapei’s Ron Stivala and Paul Vella had a good outing together with setter Owen Spiteri. Mapei kept up the pressure and won the remaining two sets beating a discouraged Fleur de Lys FEB.
Senior volleyball matches will resume on the 26th and 27th April with the semi finals and finals of the women’s knockout competition. In the semis, defending champions Paola Hibs Candy will meet Playvolley Reds whilst X-Sel is going to play Flyers.
