Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Canada won women’s pools
The women’s teams of Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Canada won their respective pools with 2-0 records advancing to Saturday’s double elimination main bracket. Teams El Salvador 1 and 2 also moved up with 1-1 mark along with USA and St. Lucia.
Puerto Ricans Sheila Lopez-Maritere Ramos won 21-12, 21-16 over St Kitts & Nevis (Shanicia Dyer-Glynis Wilkes) and then edged ESA 1 (Laura Molina-Ivonne Soler) 21-18, 23-21.
Costa Ricans Suzane Calderon-Tatiana Murillo beat ESA 2 (Frida Larios-Ana Aquino) 21-13, 14-21, 15-11, and then dispatched the Nicaragua team (Heydi Trana-Heysell Guadique) 23-21, 21-11.
Guatemalans Maria Orellana-Anna Ramirez won 21-12, 21-18 over El Salvador 3 (Karla Soler-Ingrid Rivas) 21-12, 21-18 and then edged the USA team (Erin Byrd-Stephanie Chapek) 21-18, 17-21, 15-13.
Finally, the Canadians Tammy Thomas-Kristina Long defeated St. Lucia (Dania Hamilton-Samantha Manai) 21-11, 23-21 and trounced Trinidad & Tobago 21-9, 21-
