Perez Vento won Coach of the Year Award in Puerto Rico
Jorge Perez Vento, the Cuban technician, won the award as Coach of the Year of the Puerto Rican Women’s Volleyball Superior League.
At the helm of the Guaynabo Mets, Perez Vento had to battle a lot of injuries suffered by his players and qualified the team in the sixth position of the regular series with a 9-13 record.
The Guaynabo Mets made it up to the quarter finals round in the post season phase.
Perez Vento received 12 votes to easily outdo Luis Enrique Ruiz of Pinkin of Corozal, and Jose Besosa of Carolina Giants, who each received 6 votes.
Rafael Olazagasti, of Criollas de Caguas, got 5 votes. Other coaches receiving votes were Henry Collazo of Mayaguez Indians, and Juan Carlos Nunez of Bayamon Cowgirls, with 1 apiece.
