Cuba has both teams in semi finals at Manzanillo
Cuba qualified to the semi final round in both genders at the 2008 Maeva Manzanillo Beach Volleyball Tournament, the fourth leg of the NORCECA Circuit.
Cuba’s men couple of Yoendri Kindelan-Leonel Munder will meet the winner of the quarter finals match between Andres Lopez-Jose Suarez of Costa Rica and Thomas Hernandez-Cesar Perez of Mexico.
The other men’s semi final features Puerto Ricans Orlando Irrizarry-Roberto Rodriguez against the winner of the contest between Jorge Bolanos-Erick Garrido of Guatemala and Reid Hall-Josh Chisholm of Canada.
Cuba’s women pair of Ion Canet-Nirian Sinal is going to face the winner of the match of Paola Ramirez-Natalia Alfaro of Costa Rica and Rosario Reyes-Aidee Lopez of Mexico 2. The other team already in semi finals is the Mexico 1 composed by Martha Revueltas-Diana Estrada, and is scheduled to face the winner of the match featuring Puerto Ricans Sheila Lopez-Maria T. Ramos and Vanessa Virgen-Alejandra Acosta of Mexico 3.
On Saturday, Kindelan-Munder defeated Luis Baide-Walter Sanchez of Honduras 21-8, 21-6 and Canadians Hall-Chisholm 21-11, 21-18. Irrizarry-Rodriguez won against Harold Johnson-Thomas Witt of USA 21-15, 21-11 and over Mexicans Hernandez-Perez 21-15, 16-21, 15-10.
The duo Canet-Sinal made it to the semi finals through tough battles. They first won 21-7, 16-21, 15-8 against Costa Ricans Alfaro-Ramirez and then edged Mexicans Virgen-Acosta 21-19, 23-25, 15-8. Revueltas-Estrada beat USA pair of Jennifer Henderson-Suzanne McReynolds 21-13, 21-9 and fellow countrywomen Reyes-Lopez 21-10, 21-17.
