Prague, Czech Republic, May 8, 2008 - For a first-time SWATCH FIVB World Tour stop, the Prague 2008 Open has all the makings of a top-notch international Beach Volleyball event.
Situated on a picturesque island on the River Vltava at the Stvanice Stadium, Ceska Sportovni and promoter Vladimir Safarik transformed a tennis facility to a Beach Volleyball venue with four competition courts and a warm up area in less than 36 hours to launch the inaugural SWATCH FIVB World Tour event in the Czech Republic capital for the start of Country Quota matches here Tuesday.
"It is amazing what Vladimir and his staff did in less than two days to get this event up-and-running," said FIVB Technical Supervisor Holger Brusch of Germany. "After the completion of the tennis tournament here Sunday evening, more than 50 people were on-hand to build five courts and transform the facility into a Beach Volleyball complex. They had everything in place by the start of the Country Quota matches Tuesday afternoon."
