Whitney Pavlik is embracing her Louisville roots this weekend. And yesterday her father, Tom, embraced both Pavlik and her partner, Jennifer Snyder, in victory hugs after the No. 14 seeds upset third-seeded Dianne DeNecochea and Barbra Fontana in the first session of the AVP Crocs Tour stop in Louisville, Kentucky's largest city.
"Sweaty hug, sweaty hug," Whitney's father said before he threw his arms around his daughter, then Snyder.
Pavlik's parents -- Tom and Debbi -- met when they were students at the University of Louisville, where Tom played football.
"It's just exciting no matter where we are playing, [but] it makes playing in front of the family nice," Pavlik said after the 19-21, 21-16, 15-13 second-round victory in the longest women's match of the day (one hour and six minutes).
"So far they can come back," she added in jest.
