Default Women join men for SWATCH FIVB World Tour Barcelona stop

After competing within the Asian Volleyball Confederation for their first four events of the 2008 SWATCH FIVB World Tour season, the women rejoin their male counterparts this week as the international Beach Volleyball tour visits mainland Spain for the first time in six years.

While the men have competed in SWATCH FIVB World Tour stops the past three weeks in Europe, the women have completed events in Korea and Japan after starting the year with the other gender for season-opening tournaments in Australia and China to begin the 2008 portion of qualifying for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Starting Monday in Barcelona, the US$350,000 Hyundai Open Barcelona will begin the first of seven-straight weeks of double gender competition in Europe through the Russian Grand Slam in Moscow the second week of July. Other stops will be in Poland, Berlin, Paris and Norway before the first SWATCH FIVB World Tour event in Moscow since 1999.
