Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil of the Netherlands won their second SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal here Sunday by denying China a 1-2-3 day on the international Beach Volleyball circuit by defeating Penggen Wu and Linyin Xu in the US$175,000 VIP Open finale at Lake Jarun.
After the Chinese women collected silver and bronze medals at the Keihan/SMFG Japan Open, the fourth-seeded Nummerdor and Schuil posted a 17-21, 21-17 and 15-11 win in 50 minutes over the third-seeded Wu and Xu to claim the $28,000 first-place prize in the fifth of 20 men's events on the 2008 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar.
With the Beijing 2008 Olympics starting in less than 11 weeks, Wu and Xu were attempting to win China's first-ever men's title on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour after placing second at two earlier events this season in Australia and Shanghai by losing finales to Harley Marques and Pedro Salgado of Brazil.
