After staging 29 men's and 28 women's qualifying events for the Beijing 2008 Olympics the past 15 months, the SWATCH FIVB World Tour concludes its pre-Summer Games schedule the next two weeks with Grand Slam events in Switzerland and Austria.
With the Beach Volleyball competition at the Beijing Summer Games beginning in 18 days, the SWATCH FIVB World Tour takes center stage the next two weeks starting with the US$600,000 1to1 energy Grand Slam in Gstaad, Switzerland. Qualifying starts Tuesday leading to Saturday’s medal matches for women and the men’s "final four" contests Sunday.
The 1to1 energy Grand Slam will be staging a women's SWATCH FIVB World Tour for the ninth-straight season while the men will be competing for the eighth-consecutive year in the Swiss Alps. The 2007 Gstaad stop featured the SWATCH-FIVB World Championships where the American teams of Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers and Misty May-Treanor/Kerri Walsh captured the men's and women's gold medals, respectively.
