OLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 4, 2007) – The U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team used five double-figure scorers to halt Poland 25-21, 12-25, 27-25, 25-17 Sunday evening on the third day of the FIVB World Cup at Hamamatsu, Japan.

The U.S., ranked eighth in the FIVB world ranking, improves to 3-0 in the World Cup. Poland, ranked 10th in the world, falls to 1-2.

After the first three-match stage of the World Cup, only four teams remain undefeated with Italy, Brazil and Serbia joining the U.S. all at 3-0. Japan follows closely behind with a 2-1 record. Cuba, a medal contender, has two five-set losses to Brazil and Team USA.

Team USA has Nov. 5 off as the World Cup shifts to the second phase cities of the event. The U.S. plays Kenya at 12:35 p.m. on Nov. 6 (8:35 p.m. MT on Nov. 5) at Sendai. The Americans are undefeated against the Kenyans in five previous meetings.
