AVP Inc., a company that produces and markets professional beach volleyball events, is bringing its AVP Crocs Tour to Louisville for the first time this year.
The Louisville stop, called the AVP Louisville Open, will take place Memorial Day weekend, May 24-27, on Festival Plaza at Waterfront Park, according to a news release.
More than 150 professional beach volleyball athletes, including Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, will compete in the tournament, which will be televised on Fox Sports Net, the release said.

General admission tickets are $15, and courtside box seats are $35 (with discounts for students, children and seniors). The May 24 qualifying round is free.
Los Angeles-based AVP Inc. said it partnered with SFX Worldwide, a sports marketing company owned by Louisville-based private equity firm Blue Equity LLC, and Cincinnati-based event promoter Reach Event Marketing to bring the event to Kentucky.
