In the early match, the fourth-seeded team of John Hyden and Brad Keenan took the match in three tough games from John Mayer and Jeff Nygaard winning 21-19, 17-21 and 15-10.

Life without beach volleyball?
The life of a pro volleyball player on the AVP Crocs Tour is pretty busy. They usually practice and work on their strength and conditioning from Monday to Wednesday, travel to the site of the tournament on Thursday and play Friday to Sunday. This routine week after week, although sometimes rewarding, can get very exhausting.
Because every day is usually full, there isn't much time to pursue other things during season. I wanted to know what some of the players saw themselves doing if life was different and they weren't pro beach volleyball players.
Some could see life no other way. "I wouldn't be living!" exclaimed Ty Tramblie. However, after some thought, he decided that he might have been a pro surfer if not a pro volleyball player. With his tussled blond hair and the sand stuck to his body, Tramblie would fit right in.

Heat leads to three-game battles
The AVP Crocs Tour continued the Atlanta tournament with an action packed day of exciting beach volleyball at Atlantic Station. The heat played a significant role in the flow of the day's events as 15 of 31 matches went to three games. Olympic-bound top seeds Misty May-Treanor/Kerri Walsh and Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers were both successful in their day matches and will move on to tonight's quarterfinals.
Walsh and May-Treanor defeated eighth seeds Jenny Kropp and Nancy Mason. Mason and Kropp pushed the reigning champs to a third game, finishing the first two 11-21, 25-23 but eventually dropped the third 12-15.
The fifth ranked men's team of Nick Lucena and Sean Scott dropped their first match of the day to John Hyden and Brad Keenan but rebounded later to upset second seeded Matt Fuerbringer/Casey Jennings in a close three-game match that ended 17-21, 21-15, 15-13.

May-Treanor/Walsh push on to semis
Day two of the AVP Crocs Tour Atlanta was highlighted with a night session featuring both men's and women's top seeds facing off in quarterfinal matches.
Saturday's night session featured a rematch of last week's AVP Crocs Tour Louisville final where top-seeded men's team Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers matched up against second seeds John Hyden/Brad Keenan. In a reversal of their last meeting, Hyden and Keenan pulled off an upset, winning 21-17, 14-21 and 15-11, ending Dalhausser/Rogers' 26 match 2008 AVP Crocs Tour main draw win streak.
"We played them well, its been a battle," said Hyden. "Unfortunately we didn't knock them out, but it was nice to win. With them it always comes down to that third game."

Last year's winners defend crown
The AVP Crocs Tour Atlanta came to a close Sunday afternoon after three exciting days of competition at Atlantic Station. For a second consecutive year, both Jake Gibb/Sean Rosenthal and Kerri Walsh/Misty May-Treanor found success in the Peach State, taking home the title.
In a rematch of last weekend's AVP Crocs Tour Louisville final, May-Treanor/Walsh faced off with second seeds Jenny Johnson Jordan and Annett Davis in the tournament finale. In very similar fashion the top seeds dispatched their opponents in two games, winning 21-7 and 21-17. With the game-two win, the top-seeded women also beat their record low for points against in AVP Crocs Tour finals game, previously set at eight.
"We just focused on perfecting our game," said Walsh. "We definitely tried to serve them tough. We love coming here, we love the fans in Georgia."
"We've been working on a consistent jump serve, trying to get teams in trouble," May-Treanor said. "We love playing here the fans are so great."
