Seventh-Ranked Huskers Sweep No. 2 Stanford
Sophomore Tara Mueller totaled a career-high 15 kills, while All-American Jordan Larson’s strong serving keyed a Husker comeback in the finale, as No. 7 Nebraska topped second-ranked Stanford, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 26-24) at the Runza/AVCA Showcase Friday night at the Qwest Center.

Bruins Sweep Ohio in Season Opener
Sophomore Dicey McGraw had 13 kills, senior Ali Daley added 10 and senior Nellie Spicer posted a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs, as the sixth-ranked Bruins opened 2008 on a winning note with a three-set sweep of Ohio. Game scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-17.

Texas receives a 13-kill effort from sophomore Juliann Faucette
The third-ranked Texas Volleyball team avenged its NCAA Regional final loss from a year ago, sweeping No. 4 USC Friday night in its season opener at the Runza AVCA Showcase. The Longhorns’ 27-25, 25-15, 30-28 victory was paced by a 13-kill, .333 hitting performance by sophomore All-American Juliann Faucette.

No. 1 Women's Volleyball Sweeps No. 12 Hawaii
The top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team opened the season with a win, downing No. 12 Hawaii in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) in front of 7,111 fans on the first night of the Hawaiian Airlines Classic in Honolulu.

Bruin Blocking Keys Four-Set Victory Over Hawai'i
The Bruins recorded 18 blocks on Sunday against Hawai'i, so it was only fitting that a roof clinched the match for sixth-ranked UCLA, which won a nail-biter with the 12th-ranked Rainbow Wahine in four sets. Scores were 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 30-28.

Stanford claims its first win of 2008 in the five-set battle.
The No. 2 Stanford volleyball team bounced back from a rough first outing, returning to the court to outlast No. 3 Texas in a five-set thriller at the Runza/AVCA Showcase in Omaha, Neb. Led by All-American outside hitters Cynthia Barboza and Alix Klineman, Stanford dominated the first two sets, then held on to claim the 25-17, 25-19, 25-27, 20-25, 15-10 victory.

Behind 15 kills on .619 hitting from senior outside hitter Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio), the top-ranked Penn State women's volleyball team remained unbeaten with a three-game sweep of Ohio (25-15, 25-19, 25-9) Sunday afternoon at the Hawaiian Airlines Classic in Honolulu. The Nittany Lions improve to 3-0 while the Bobcats fall to 0-3.
