The Olympic silver medal-winning U.S. women's volleyball team is skipping town.
Growing concern over ball movement at altitude has forced USA Volleyball to look for a new home for 25-plus players who have practiced at the Olympic Training Center the past 11 years.
USA Volleyball sent a request for proposal to nearly 50 cities and selected five or six finalists, including Anaheim, Calif., where the Olympic champion men's team relocated from Colorado Springs two years ago.
"It's my highest priority to get the team out of Colorado Springs and into an environment that will be closer to one in which we play," said Hugh McCutcheon, the 39-year-old New Zealander who resigned as men's coach Monday to sign a four-year contract replacing women's coach "Jenny" Lang Ping.
