No. 9 Cal Volleyball Goes The Distance In 3-2 Thriller Over Arizona
The No. 9 California volleyball team (16-4, 6-3 Pac-10) defeated the Arizona Wildcats (12-9, 2-7) in five-games (20-30, 23-30, 30-28, 30-22, 15-12) for its sixth consecutive conference and overall victory. The win marks the second time the Bears have come from two games down to win a match, with the first time against Santa Clara.

Wisconsin Sweeps Another Conference Opponent
The eighth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team (17-1 overall, 9-0 Big Ten) swept Ohio State (8-10, 2-7) 30-17, 30-27 and 30-21 in front of 6,842 fans Friday night at the UW Field House. The Badgers remain unbeaten in Big Ten Conference play, sharing the league lead with Penn State, which edged Illinois, 3-2, in Champaign, Ill.

Bruins Bounce Back With Sweep of Washington State
Junior Kaitlin Sather led all players with 17 kills, senior Rachell Johnson celebrated her birthday with 16 kills and junior Nellie Spicer added 51 assists and 12 digs, as the seventh-ranked Bruins defeated Washington State in three games in Pullman on Friday. Game scores were 33-31, 30-18, 30-23.

Morrison, Mussie Help Fifth-Ranked UW Sweep No. 4 USC
Behind double-doubles from Christal Morrison and Stevie Mussie, the fifth-ranked Washington volleyball team swept No. 4 USC on Friday night in Pac-10 action in front of a season-high 4,027 fans at Bank of America Arena. Despite hitting just .219 on the night, the Huskies won in three games (30-26, 30-28, 30-19) and improved to 19-1 overall and 8-1 in the Pac-10. The win extended the Huskies school-record home winning streak to 38 games.

Stanford Dominates Arizona State for 15th Sweep of the Season
Cynthia Barboza tallied 15 kills, Franci Girard added seven kills in seven tries, the squad hit a season-best .491 and the Stanford women's volleyball team cruised to its 15th sweep of the season in the home of the Arizona State Sun Devils 30-21, 30-19, 30-14. Stanford improves to 19-1 with the win, and wraps up the first half of Pac-10 play with an 8-1 conference record. Arizona State falls to 11-11, 3-6 Pac-10 with the loss.

No. 2 Penn State Women¹s Volleyball Outlasts Illinois, 3-2
CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Oct 19, 2007 * The second-ranked Penn State women¹s volleyball team racked up 25 team blocks in outlasting Illinois in five games (30-28, 30-25, 19-30, 28-30, 15-10) Friday night at Huff Hall in Champaign, Ill. The Nittany Lions improve to 17-2 and remain undefeated in the Big Ten at 9-0 while the Fighting Illini fall to 12-7 and 4-5 in league action.
Penn State tied a Huff Hall record with 25 total blocks in the contest as sophomore setter Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.) set a new Nittany Lion single-match record with 14 blocks and junior middle hitter Christa Harmotto (Aliquippa, Pa.) set a new season high with 12 stuffs. Freshman middle hitter Arielle Wilson (Broadview, Ill.) tied her career high with nine blocks as redshirt freshman Blair Brown (Purcellville, Va.) notched five stuffs.

Bulls Sweep Hoyas, 3-0
The University of South Florida volleyball team came out strong against Georgetown on Saturday afternoon and swept the Hoyas, 3-0 (30-19, 30-24, 30-20), at McDonough Arena.
The Bulls (13-6, 5-3 BIG EAST) were solid all-around from the start and only continued to get better as the match went on. USF edged the Hoyas (5-19, 1-7 BIG EAST) in every category on the stat sheet, including hitting .276 to Georgetown’s -.059. The Bulls also tallied 40 kills in the outing, which were 15 more than GU.
