Default Women’s Volleyball rallies for a 3-2 victory at No. 22 Minnesota

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State (11-10 overall, 5-7 Big Ten) women’s volleyball team rallied from an 2-0 Minnesota (12-10, 5-7) lead to defeat the No. 22 Golden Gophers, 3-2, (24-30, 23-30, 30-27, 31-29, 15-10) Saturday night in Williams Arena in from of 6,285 fans. Ohio State’s Danielle Meyer (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) posted a match-high 22 points in the match with 20 kills, one ace serve and two assist blocks. Katie Dull (Fr., Solon, Ohio) had 15.5 points in the match with 12 kills, two ace serves and three assist blocks. OSU setter Briana McCarthy (Sr., Beaver Dam, Wis.) had 13 points with 10 kills, two ace serves and two assist blocks adding 10 digs for her first career triple-double. Minnesota’s Rachelle Hagerty produced a team-high 21.5 points with 15 kills, an ace serve, four solo blocks and three assists. Lauren Gibbemeyer contributed 18 points with 12 kills, an ace serve and 10 assist blocks and Brook Dieter added 14 with 12 kills and two ace serves.

Default Another Win For No. 21 Volleyball

NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 21 Oklahoma volleyball team added another win to its column on Saturday night as it topped Texas A&M, 3-1 (28-30, 30-21, 30-28, 30-28), inside the McCasland Field House.

The Sooners, who sit at third in the Big 12 standings, improved to 18-5 and 10-3 in the Big 12 while the Aggies fell to 17-7 and 6-7 in league action. The win gave the Sooners a sweep over the Aggies this season as OU knocked off A&M in College Station earlier this year. It also marked the fourth straight win against the Aggies, but only the fifth in the series history.

Default Spartan Volleyball Stuns No. 20 Michigan In Four Games

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Spartan fans came out in force to support Michigan State volleyball in its four-game victory Saturday night over Michigan for the 13th annual Jam Jenison. The Spartans took games one and two before the Wolverines picked up a win, but MSU rallied and stunned No. 20 Michigan in game four for a 3-1 win (38-36, 30-25, 26-30, 30-27) in front of 2,286 fans.

ATHENS, Ohio - Behind the play of freshman outside hitter Melissa Szkutnik (Perrysburg, Ohio), the No. 19 Ohio volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (30-21, 30-16, 30-12) victory Saturday night against Buffalo at the Convocation Center. Szkutnik connected on a match-high and new career-high 12 kills and hit .667 in the Bobcat win.

Default Wildcats Prevail with 3-1 Victory Over Cyclones

MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 15 Kansas State was powered to a 3-1 win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday night in Ahearn Field House. The Wildcats, backed by tough play from the middle, earned the gutsy win by scores of 30-24, 30-26, 20-30, 35-33 to move to 17-6 overall and 9-4 in the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State remains at fifth in the conference with a 7-5 Big 12 record and falls to 13-9 overall. The win cemented K-State’s 11th sweep of the seasonal series since the formation of the Big 12 and second series victory this season.
