Volleyball Defeats Hartford, 3-1


Hartford, Conn. - The Providence College volleyball team defeated Hartford, 3-1 on Wednesday, October 31. The Friars defeated the Hawks by the scores of 30-28, 24-30, 30-26, and 30-27. With its third straight win, Providence improves its record to 18-9. The 18 wins marks the highest win total since 1997 when the Friars earned 21 victories.

Lincoln – Sarah Pavan totaled four of her match-high 22 kills in a game five, lifting No. 2 Nebraska to a 30-19, 32-34, 30-11, 24-30, 15-10 victory over a game Missouri squad Wednesday night at the NU Coliseum.

Pavan recorded her third double-double of the year with 22 kills on .347 hitting and 14 digs, and came up big in game five with four kills, including each of the final two points, and four digs. Her effort helped the Huskers extend their home winning streak to 67 matches and bounce back from their first loss of the year last Wednesday.

Default No. 13 NMSU Volleyball Gets Second Sweep of the Week

Boise, Idaho-The No.13 New Mexico State volleyball team picked their second sweep in as many games as the Aggies beat Boise State 3-0 (30-18, 30-24, 30-19) in Boise, Idaho, Thursday, Nov. 1.



In front of 322 rowdy fans in Bronco Gym, junior Lindsey Yon (San Antonio, Texas) led the way with 12 kills, while sophomore Krista Altermatt (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) had nine. As a team, NMSU had 13.5 blocks while senior Kim Oguh (El Paso, Hanks HS) was involved in nine of those blocks.

Default No. 11 Rainbow Wahine Sweep Wolf Pack In Reno

RENO, Nev. - The No. 11 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team (18-4, 12-0 WAC) swept the Nevada Wolf Pack (13-8, 9-4) 30-17, 30-20 and 30-27 in front of a crowd of 963 at the Virginia Street Gym Thursday.

Jamie Houston led the way for UH with 21 kills and eight digs while hitting .410. Aneli Cubi-Otineru added 11 kills, eight digs and four blocks with a .333 hitting percentage while Juliana Sanders hit .333 with six kills and five blocks. Tara Hittle came back from a rough start to post nine kills and 12 digs, while Stephanie Brandt had 38 assists and 11 digs. Elizabeth Ka`aihue added a match-high 14 digs.
