LAWRENCE, Kan. -

Kansas volleyball used a balanced attack of four players with double-figure kills to upset No. 18 Oklahoma and stop a six-match losing skid in Saturday's volleyball action at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. KU hung on to defeat the Sooners in five, 30-26, 28-30, 20-30 and 15-10 to improve to 11-14 for the season and 4-11 in Big 12 matches. OU dropped to 18-7 overall and 10-5 in the conference.

Kansas' win marks the Jayhawks' first win over a top-25 team since Sept. 7, 2006 in a 3-0 sweep of then-No.16 BYU. Saturday's win was also KU's first victory over a ranked Big 12 opponent since defeating Kansas State on Nov. 5, 2005 when the Wildcats were ranked 24th in the country.

Freshman Jenna Kaiser led the KU attack with 18 kills followed by junior Natalie Uhart with 14, 12 from freshman Karina Garlington and 11 more from senior Caitlin Mahoney.

ITHACA, N.Y.—With a late rally in the fifth game, Cornell volleyball slipped past Yale by a score of 3-2 on Saturday evening. The Big Red snapped the Bulldogs’ six-match win streak, while being led by freshman Katie Marshall who tallied 17 kills with 13 digs. Cornell honored seniors Amy Gordon and Kara Zaragoza before the start of the match.

The Big Red opened to a fast start in the first game, with Marshall, Emily Borman and Juliana Rogers all posting five kills in the 30-27 win. The Bulldogs regrouped in game two and jumped out to a 10-3 early lead. The Big Red was never able to regain its momentum, and Yale tied the match at two with a 30-19 win.

Cornell and the Bulldogs proved to be evenly matched in game three with both teams battling back and forth for points with the game tied at 25. Cornell pulled ahead with a kill by Marshall and a big block by Gordon. Yale’s Julia Mailander brought her team within one with a kill of her own, before freshman Alessa Cekauskas tallied another point for Cornell with a kill. Mailander grabbed another kill but Borman matched with one of her own to retain the lead. A Big Red attacking error put Yale within a point of Cornell, but the Big Red grabbed the win after a ball handling error by the Bulldogs.
