Hens Capture First CAA Volleyball Championship with 3-1 Victory over Hofstra in Title Bout


NEWARK, DE -- Led by seniors Colleen Walsh and Megan Welch, the top-seeded University of Delaware volleyball team captured its first ever Colonial Athletic Association Championship after defeating No. 3 seed Hofstra, 3-1 (30-19, 30-25, 19-30, 30-16), during the title bout at Viera Court on Sunday night.

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The No. 20 St. John's Red Storm volleyball team are the 2007 BIG EAST Champions, after defeating the Louisville Cardinals, 3-0 (30-24, 30-14, 30-26) in the tournament's championship match, Sunday afternoon. The Red Storm earns its first championship in program history. With the win, the Red Storm improves to 31-3 overall on the season, while the Cardinals dropped to 22-6.

Default Flyers Take Home Fourth Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship

CHARLOTTE - #16 Dayton secured its fourth Atlantic 10 Volleyball Championship title in the past five years with a 3-0 (30-24, 33-31, 30-26) victory over Xavier on Sunday afternoon at Halton Arena. The win gives the Flyers (30-1) their first 30-win season in modern history and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

TOLEDO, Ohio - Miami University's volleyball team did what only what one other team in the country has done this season. Miami (19-8; 13-3 MAC) defeated No. 15 Ohio (25-5; 15-1 MAC) in three games in the championship of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon, becoming only the second team to defeat No. 15 Ohio in three games. No. 4 Stanford is the only other team to defeat the Bobcats in three games. The RedHawks earned their first MAC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament bid since 1998. Senior Jeanna Staun and junior Alex Ratcliff earned MAC All-Tournament Honors, while senior Carli Reihman was named MAC Tournament MVP.
