MADISON, Wis. - The No. 6 California volleyball team defeated No. 18 Iowa State in a three-game sweep (30-27, 30-27, 30-24) in the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament Regional semifinal today at the Wisconsin Field House in Madison, Wis. The Bears advance past the round of 16 for the fist time in school history and with their 25th win this season, match the most wins ever by a Cal team. The Bears recorded 12 total team blocks to move them into seventh all-time in the Pac-10 for total team blocks in a season.

Default USC Advances To Regional Final With 3-2 Win Over St. John's

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Senior All-America outside hitter Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) had 25 kills Friday, including six in game five, as the No. 5 seeded USC Trojans defeated the No. 12 seeded St. John's Red Storm, 3-2 (30-27, 30-22, 26-30, 24-30, 15-10), in the NCAA Tournament regional semifinal. USC (28-4) was able to stave off a St. John's (33-4) rally after the Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford volleyball program secured its 14th 30-win season tonight and, with it, a place in tomorrow's NCAA Regional Championship Match. With the help of Pac-10 Player of the Year Foluke Akinradewo, the top-seeded Cardinal demolished the 16th-seeded Cal Poly Mustangs, 30-15, 30-24, 30-20, in front of a crowd of 3,178 at Maples Pavilion and improved to 30-2 on the year. It is the fourth time in the past six years that USC has advanced to the NCAA Championships (2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007).

Cal will advance to the national semifinal for the first time in school history after setting a school record for total wins in a season with 26. The Bears will face No. 1 Penn State, the winner of the Penn State regional for the right to play in the national championship match in Sacramento, Calif.
