Wilson, Asuka Lead UC Irvine in Sweep Over Pacific
IRVINE, Calif. --- Outside hitter Taylor Wilson pounded 18 kills and libero Brent Asuka picked up a season-high 13 digs as No. 7 UC Irvine swept Pacific, 30-27, 30-26, 30-24 Friday in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at the Bren Events Center. With the win, UC Irvine improved to 3-2 overall (1-0 MPSF) and extended its home record to 31-3 dating back to Jan. 3, 2006.

USC Men's Volleyball Sweeps UC Santa Barbara
Murphy Troy had a match-high 15 kills along with 6 digs, while teammate C.J. Schellenberg added 13 kills, 5 digs, 3 aces and 3 blocks to help the No. 11-ranked USC men's volleyball team sweep No. 14 UC Santa Barbara, 30-23, 30-26, 30-19, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday (Jan. 11) in USC's Galen Center.

No. 1 Cougs Get First Win
SAN DIEGO, (Jan. 11, 2007) -- The No. 1 BYU men's volleyball team kicked off the 2008 season with a bang Friday night in San Diego with a 3-1 victory over UC San Diego and will look to remain perfect through the weekend with another match at UCSD on Saturday.
Senior opposite Jonathan Charette, a native of Fullerton, Calif., led the team with 16 kills, a .375 hitting percentage and nine digs. All-American senior middle blocker Russell Holmes of Fountain Valley, Calif., had nine kills and a .429 hitting percentage.

No. 3 Men's Volleyball Grounds Lewis, 3-1
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The third-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team defeated Lewis in four games (30-28, 28-30, 30-26, 30-22) Friday night to improve to 4-0 for the season.
"I've been through 14 years of getting off the plane from Hawaii and trying to play in the next week," said head coach Mark Pavlik. "The guys were able to overcome the jet lag and provide some energy. The win tonight was due to the diligence and the effort of the team to overcome those challenges."

Bruins Defeat Cardinal in Four
The UCLA men's volleyball team won its first league opener in three years by beating Stanford in four games Friday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins won 30-19, 24-30, 30-24, 30-18 in one hour and 45 minutes before 938 fans. The victory raised UCLA's overall record to 3-1, 1-0 in MPSF play. Stanford fell to 2-1, 0-1.

EIVA Tait Division Player of the Week
Max Holt
Holt contributed to a win over Lewis. In the four game match, he hit .391. Max had 14 kills on 23 swings, 4 digs and 5 blocks leading the Nittany Lion charge. For the match, Holt scored 17 points.
