LOS ANGELES - Senior Jared Dayton hit .500 with 18 kills and only two errors to lead the Flyers to a dominating 30-24, 30-27, 30-22 sweep at No. 8 USC.
The win is the second over the Trojans in Lewis history, but first on the USC campus. Lewis' other victory came on the neutral court of Penn State in 2004.
Dayton, a southern California native, also had four digs and two block assists. More importantly he seemed to single-handedly respond every time the Trojans tried to put a run together. In addition to Dayton's solid match, freshman Brian Muesenfechter started and set career highs with 12 kills and seven digs. He also recorded three block assists. Juniors Drew Pickering and Billy Sahagian had impressive nights also. Pickering notched nine kills, five digs and three blocks (one solo). Sahagian hit .583 with eight kills and four block assists. Sophomore Mike Iandolo tallied 43 assists, six digs, two blocks (one solo) and two kills.
