HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i men's volleyball team (7-9, 5-7 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) beat the No. 12 Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in three-sets, 30-18, 30-25, 30-24, in a non-conference match Wednesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH broke Loyola's four-match winning streak while the Warriors also ended their own two-match losing skid with the win. The Warriors improved to 4-7 against ranked opponents this season.
Hawai'i was led by James Clar, who had a match-high 17 kills in front of 2,443 fans. Jacob Schkud was also in double digit kills as he tallied 12. The Warriors, as a team, out-blocked the Ramblers 15-3 and sophomore Matthew Rawson had a team-high eight blocks, a new season high.
UH stormed out in the first game and beat Loyola-Chicago (10-7, 4-2 MIVA) with ease, 30-18. Brennon Dyer, Schkud, and Clar each had three kills for the Warriors. The Ramblers were plagued by mental mistakes as they tallied 10 errors.
