LONG BEACH, Calif. - Senior Paul Lotman had 12 kills, four aces and four blocks to lead the fourth-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyball team to a resounding 30-23, 30-20, 30-23 win over Pacific on Wednesday evening in the Walter Pyramid. The 49ers improved to 14-2 overall and 10-2 in the MPSF with the win, while the Tigers fell to 1-17 and 1-14 in league action.
The 49ers hit a solid .352 in the match and limited the Tigers to a .034 (29-26-88) hitting percentage. Dean Bittner added nine kills, Fletcher Anderson eight and Dan Alexander seven. Junior Gavin Christensen saw his first extended action of the season and had a season-high four kills and two digs. Lotman hit an impressive .526 (12-2-19) in the match while Anderson bettered him with a .583 (8-1-12) hitting percentage. Defensively, Dustin Watten tallied seven digs as the 49ers out-dug the Tigers 27-to-22. Setter Mike Klipsch had 41 assists and four digs.
