LOS ANGELES (Mar. 13, 2008) -- For only the second time in program history, the No. 1 BYU men's volleyball team (17-1, 12-1) swept No. 9 UCLA (13-10, 8-7) in three sets at Pauley Pavilion Thursday (30-25, 30-27, 30-27), led by senior All-American middle blocker Russell Holmes' .846 attack percentage.
The Cougars have now won the last nine sets against the Bruins dating back to back-to-back sweeps in the 2007 season in Provo. Holmes recorded a team-best 11 kills and three blocks, followed by Ivan Perez and Andrew Stewart with 10 kills apiece. Since BYU's only loss on the season, the team is now 5-0 with four three-set sweeps.
