Bruins Beat Gauchos in Four
Seventh-ranked UCLA took another step toward hosting a quarterfinal MPSF playoff match by beating No. 14 UC Santa Barbara in four games Wednesday night.
The Bruins won 29-31, 30-21, 30-24, 33-31 in one hour and 55 minutes in front of 482 fans. The victory avenged a Feb. 20 four-game loss to UCSB and raised the Bruins' overall record to 16-11, 11-8 in league play. The Gauchos fell to 9-15, 6-13.

Four Attackers Get 10+ in Win at Hawaii
Now one match closer to hosting the first round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation playoffs and possibly throughout, the No. 3 BYU men's volleyball team (20-4, 15-4) beat No. 13 Hawaii (10-14, 7-12) Thursday in the first of two matches at the Stan Sheriff Center in four sets (30-26, 30-28, 24-30, 30-27).

Men’s Volleyball: No. 10 Buckeyes Sweep No. 12 George Mason
The 10th-ranked Ohio State (14-7 overall) men’s volleyball team defeated No. 12 George Mason (16-7) in a three-game sweep with scores of 30-21, 30-21, 30-27 Friday night in St. John Arena. Buckeye Robbie Klein (Sr.-Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) scored a match-high 20 points in the victory with a match-high 14 kills, two ace serves, two solo blocks and four assist blocks. Patriot Kyle Gramit had a team-high 14 points for George Mason with 11 kills, a solo block and four assist blocks.

49ers Win In Five Game At Pacific
The one-two punch of Paul Lotman and Dean Bittner and a career-night from freshman Josh Riley lifted the fourth-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyball team to a 30-24, 26-30, 30-24, 30-32, 15-12 win over the University of the Pacific on Friday evening in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) match. Long Beach improves to 20-5 on the year and 15-4 in the MPSF, while the Tigers fall to 4-21 and 1-18 in league action. The 49ers recorded 20 victories in a season for the fourth time in the past five years.

Brooms Come Out in Honolulu
With a first-round home match in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation playoffs set in stone, the No. 3 BYU men's volleyball (21-4, 16-4) team earned its 21st victory of the season in a three-set sweep (31-29, 30-19, 30-24) over No. 13 Hawaii (10-15, 7-13) Friday in Honolulu.
Senior Jonathan Charette led all attackers with 11 kills on the night, but fellow-senior Trent Sorensen racked up 10 kills hitting .562 with a service ace, two digs, and six blocks. After allowing Hawaii standout Joshua Walker to knock down 29 kills in Thursday's match, BYU held him to 10 kills on 42 swings with 10 errors and a .000 attack percentage in Friday's sweep. In total, The Cougars held the Warriors to a .102 attack percentage on the night, the lowest the blue and white have allowed all season.

UCI Clinches Post-Season With Sweep of UC Santa Barbara
No. 9 UC Irvine swept No. 14 UC Santa Barbara, 3-0 (32-30, 30-27, 30-20) at Robertson Gym Saturday, clinching a post-season appearance.
With the team's 10th MPSF win, UCI clinches a spot in the post-season with two regular season matches remaining. The Anteaters are 14-13 overall and 10-10 in league play. UCSB drops to 9-16 on the year and 6-14 in the MPSF.

USC Men's Volleyball Comes Back To Upset No. 5 Pepperdine
Juan Figueroa had 29 kills to help the No. 11-ranked USC men's volleyball team overcome a 2-0 deficit and post a dramatic comeback upset win at No. 5 Pepperdine, 31-33, 25-30, 30-27, 31-29, 17-15, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (April 5).
USC, which captured its third game in a row to advance its cause of qualifying for the 8-team MPSF tournament, defeated the Waves in Malibu for the first time since 1999, ending a 9-match losing skid there.

No. 9 Buckeyes Tie for First Place in the MIVA with a 3-2 Win at IPFW
The ninth-ranked Ohio State (16-7 overall, 9-1 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) men’s volleyball team overcame a 4-0 Mastodon lead in game five to win, 3-2 (27-30, 30-26, 30-26, 22-30, 15-13) Tuesday night at the Gates Sports Center. The victory moves the Buckeyes into a tie for first place with eighth-ranked Ball State (18-8, 9-1), Ohio State’s next opponent Thursday at 7 p.m. in St. John Arena.

9 Buckeyes Down No. 8 Ball State, 3-1, to earn at least a share of the MIVA Champions
The ninth-ranked Ohio State (17-7 overall, 10-1 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) men’s volleyball team, behind a match-high 26.5 points from Robbie Klein (Sr.-Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio), earned at least a share of the MIVA championship with a 3-1 (28-30, 30-27, 30-23, 30-23) victory over eighth-ranked Ball State (18-9, 9-2) Thursday night in St. John Arena. Both teams close out the regular season with conference matches Saturday, Ohio State hosting Mercyhurst (5-18, 1-10) and Ball State playing at 15th-ranked Lewis (20-8, 7-4). Klein’s match-high 26.5 points included a match-high 23 kills, three ace serves and an assist block. Ball State’s Todd Chamberlain had a team-high 20 points for the Cardinals with 19 kills and two assist blocks.

Waves Defeat Hawaii in Three Games
After a slow start, the #5 Pepperdine men’s volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 victory (31-29, 30-25, 30-17) over #13 Hawaii on Friday night in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play at Firestone Fieldhouse.
The Waves (13-9, 12-9) and the Warriors (10-16, 7-14) finish off the regular season with one more match on Saturday night (April 12) at 7 p.m. Thanks to Stanford’s four-game win over UCLA tonight, the Waves can clinch the #4 seed and a first-round home match in the upcoming MPSF Tournament with a victory on Saturday.
