NAC wins 23rd straight Section VII volleyball title
ICKETTS CORNERS — The streak continued for the Northern Adirondack Central volleyball team Tuesday night, as the Bobcats swept Lake Placid 3-0 to earn their 23rd straight Section VII, Class C crown at the Saranac Central High School.
The Bobcats opened up the match with a 25-7 win in game one and followed up in game two with a 25-10 win over the Blue Bombers. In game three the Bombers mustered hopes of a comeback by scoring the first four points of the game, but the Bobcats quickly regained their composure and eventually tied the score at 8-8. After tying the score, NAC scored the go-ahead point and never looked back, and went on to finish the game at 25-15 for the championship.
Heather Byron led the Bobcats with 14 points and 8 kills, while Emily Snide finished with 12 points and 10 assists. Lake Placid’s Kindsley Dodson netted seven points, two aces, one kill, four blocks and a dig, while Kierstin Irwin finished with an ace, two kills, one block and a five digs.
