All is looking good. We have had an action packed Olympic Games regarding the Volleyball side, then when it's finished we're rewarded with this! Good stuff!
Certianly shaping up to be a great compeition. Let's hope it won't be dominated by Brazil again! LOL!

Eight Beach Volleyball tandems from seven countries advanced from Wednesday’s 27-team men’s qualifier here Wednesday to set the field for this week’s inaugural SWATCH FIVB World Tour Otera Open event in Kristiansand, the summer resort on the southern coast of Norway.

Six of the top-eight seeded men’s teams advanced to Thursday’s opening “money” rounds where the winning teams will share the $28,000 first-place prizes. The women’s “final four” matches will be played Saturday followed by the men’s semi-finals and medal matches Sunday.

Norwegians set for clash in third round of SWATCH FIVB Otera Open
They haven't won a match against the other top Norwegian team for five years. Susanne Glesnes and Kathrine Maaseide will have a chance on Thursday to get that elusive victory when they meet their rivals Nila Hakedal and Ingrid Torlen in the third round of Main Draw. "We’re looking forward to the match. The more matches, the bigger is the chance for our victory to come," said Glesnes.
Maaseide and Glesnes won the Norwegian championships in September 2003. Their opponents in the final were Hakedal and Torlen. Hakedal and Torlen then won four Norwegian championship finals against Maaseide and Glesnes in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008. They also won the quarter-final in the European Championships against Maaseide and Glesnes in 2007, as well as their semi-final meet this year. In SWATCH FIVB World Tour action, Hakedal and Torlen lead the series against Maaseide and Glesnes 3-1. Their only loss came by forfeit in the 2007 SWATCH FIVB Seoul Open.

Young Brazilian plays on familiar Norwegian ground
Friday’s fourth-round opponents Carolina Solberg Salgado of Brazil and Nila Hakedal of Norway have one thing in common: the city of Kristiansand. Carolina’s grandfather comes from this Norwegian southcoast city, while Nila has lived most of her life here.
"But for sure Nila will have the crowd on her side. That’s how it is. I don’t even know if I have any family left in Norway," said Salgado.
Her grandfather was the only child in the family. He left Norway for Brazil at the age of 20, and never went back. "My father has told me that there maybe are some relatives over here, but we have never met anyone," said Salgado.
Second-seeded Maria Clara Salgado/Carolina Solberg Salgado of Brazil against third-seeded Nila Hakedal/Ingrid Tørlen of Norway is one of two fourth-round matches to be played in the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Otera Open at Tresse on Friday. The other match is between top-seeded Maria Antonelli/Vanilda dos Santos Leao of Brazil and fifth-seeded Doris and Stephanie Schwaiger of Austria.

Men’s Otera Open sees Italian surprises
While the women’s SWATCH FIVB World Tour stop in Kristiansand this week featured “business as usual” with three of the four top seeds advancing to the fourth round as expected, the men’s US$175,000 Otera Open saw two of the top-ranked teams defeated here Thursday during the opening round of competition.
Topping the list of upsets was 31st-seeded Matteo and Paolo Ingresso of Italy scoring a 21-18, 14-21 and 15-12 win in 56 minutes over second-seeded Renato “Geor” Gomes and Jorge “Gia” Terceiro of Georgia. Geor/Gia entered this week’s SWATCH stop as the fourth-placed team in the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Strong Austrians move to fourth round in Kristiansand
Austria has already secured one team in Sunday’s “final four” matches in the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Otera Open 2008. The teams of thirteenth-seeded Florian Gosch/Alexander Horst and eight-seeded Clemens Doppler/Peter Gartmayer made their way through the winners' bracket Friday to claim a fourth-round berth. They will meet Saturday afternoon to decide which team will go directly to the semi-final and which will play a second quarter-final match in the contender’s bracket.
"It must be something about Norway and Scandinavia. Austrian teams always play well up here," said Alexander Horst.
Gosch/Horst defeated Norwegian Jorre Kjemperud/Tarjei Skarlund in their third-round match Friday 21-18, 21-19 in 46 minutes.

Brazilian newcomers gain 'final four' berth in Otera Open
Brazilian Joao “Billy” Maciel (30) and Bruno Oscar Schmidt (24) are in their first season on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, and they making a success of it. A seventh-placed spot from Marseille will definitely be improved during this weekend at the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Otera Open in Kristiansand, “The summer city of Norway." They won their fourth straight match Saturday afternoon and qualified for the Otera Open “final four” on Sunday. Silver medallist from the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 Pablo Herrera of Spain and his partner Raul Mesa were the last obstacle. Maciel/Bruno claimed their “final four” berth with a 23-21, 18-21 and 15-13 win in 67 minutes.
"This is just too good to be true," said Maciel, knowing they have got a great opportunity to pick some extra World Tour points for the next tournaments. "It’s a tough life being No. 7 or No. 8 on the Brazilian Beach Volleyball ranking. To get among the three teams automatically qualified for the Main Draws every ranking point is important.
