Prandi signs deal with Bulgarian Volleyball Federation to coach men’s national team
Quote:
Lausanne, October 24, 2008 – The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has confirmed the appointment of Silvano Prandi as Head Coach of the men’s national team.
Prandi travelled to the Bulgarian capital of Sofia to meet representatives of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation and signed a contract with BVF President Dancho Lazarov on Tuesday.
Prandi told a press conference in Sofia following the contract signing: "Working in Bulgaria is a huge honour and pleasure for me, as it means that I will train one of the world's best teams. I am very well acquainted with the playing style developed in Bulgaria, I know the strengths and weaknesses of the players and I will provide them with some advice for the skills they still have to work on.”
The 60-year-old Prandi became the Italian Men’s Head Coach in 1983 and led them to bronze-medal glory at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. He coached the national team for 100 games, setting the foundations for future success then handing the reins to Poland’s Aleksander Skiba before the Julio Velasco era in which Italy dominated the international scene.
