Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Bosnia & Herzegovina set for Lendava
Hosts Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina are set to do battle in the FIVB Women’s World Championship first-round Pool A tournament this weekend in Lendava.
Slovenia currently sit highest in the current FIVB world rankings at joint-55, while Austria are joint-60th, Bosnia & Herzegovina joint-75th and Hungary joint-90th.
The first-placed team of the January 9-11 round-robin event at Sport Hall Lendava will advance to the second-round Pool E competition in Split, Croatia, on May 15-17. Croatia, Slovakia and Belgium are the other teams who will be competing in Split.
The second-placed team will advance to the second-round Pool G competition in France, where they will face the hosts, Greece, Spain and Finland.
The 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship finals are scheduled to take place in Japan from October 29 to November 14.
