Moldova joins the Second Round of the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championship
Moldova qualifies for the 2nd Round of the 2010 FIVB Women’s World Championship after the 1st Round tournament – Pool C came to an end in Tallinn. Moldova finished the competition with an easy 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-13) against Georgia. In the very last match scheduled for Sunday the hosts defeated Denmark also in straight sets.
The head coach of Moldova Mikhail Copilov was very satisfied with the results of his team. And after having been asked what kind of goal they have for the 2nd Round tournament against the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Albania, he replied: “We're going to fight for a place in the top three which would give us ticket for the third round. Romania and Albania are opponents against whom we have realistic chances to win”.
The host team enjoyed a quick 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-18) against Denmark to finish second in the final standings. “There's not much to say. We played better in every area of the court,“ Estonian head coach Peeter Vahtra said. “Overall I'm satisfied with my team's attitude and preparation. Yes, we wanted to win this home tournament and we were very close to it, but Moldova was physically stronger. This renewed Estonian national team has been working together for almost a year. It's hard to say where we are in the world, but in Europe I think we've a place in the top 25."
