FIVB confirms new dates and host cities for 2009 FIVB Boys’ Youth World Championship
The FIVB can confirm new dates and host cities for the 2009 FIVB Boys’ Youth World Championship in Italy.
The biennial event will now take place through August 28 to September 6 in the Italian cities of Bassano del Grappa and Jesolo.
The previous plan was for the tournament to be hosted in Calabria through August 21-30.
The 2009 edition will be made up of the 16 best boys’ teams in the world. There are three slots for Africa, three for Asia, six for Europe, two for Norceca and two for South America.
Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, defending champions Iran, Japan, India, Italy, USA, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Brazil are already qualified for the event.
There are still five teams to qualify from CEV, who will do so at the 2009 Youth European Championships staged in Rotterdam, Netherlands, through April 4-9.
