Hosts St. Lucia and Dominica are the regional top two ranked squads among the five countries participating in the FIVB Men’s World Championship first round Norceca-A tournament that begins on Wednesday at the Beausejuer Pavilion. Coaches hope to move to second round in Jamaica
The enthusiasm was evident from all the five coaches at helms here for the Norceca-A first round tournament of the FIVB Men’s World Championship which starts today with two matches.
They all expressed their confidence about advancing with their teams to the second round stage of the event to be held in Jamaica next May 20-25. All had the chance to express themselves prior to the general technical meeting of the event.

Dominica defeated St. Vincent & Grenadines
Dominica recorded a straight sets victory over St. Vincent & Grenadines in the first match of the FIVB Men’s World Championship firs round Norceca-A tournament. The score was 25-18, 25-23, 25-23.
David Toussaint and Reginald Thomas recorded 15 and 11 points respectively to lead Dominica and Ronald Bruno added 8. For the losing side Marlon Williams had 13 and Dominic White and Adolf Davis each contributed 8 points.
“We prepared very strong to face St. Vincent which we had not played for the last 14 years,” said Robert R. Guiste, the coach of Dominica. “I am very happy with the victory.”

Dominica got its second straight victory by stopping Bermuda 3-0 in the last match of Day Two of the FIVB Men’s World Championship first round Norceca-A tournament. The score was 25-18, 25-20, 25-13.

Dominica is a heavy contender in St. Lucia
Dominica swept Grenada 25-12, 25-21, 25-19 cementing its position as a top contender to move to the second phase of the 2010 FIVB Men’s World Championship.

Bermuda wins its first match in Norceca’s history
Bermuda defeated Grenada in straight sets claiming its first win in the Norceca-A first round tournament of the 2010 FIVB Men’s World Championship. The score was 25-21, 25-17, 25-21.
