Default Kazakhstan hands New Zealand second loss

Hosts Kazakhstan crushed New Zealand in straight sets on the second day of the Asia Pool B second round tournament of the 2010 FIVB Women's World Championships at the Palace of Sports here on Wednesday, and will next meet Uzbekistan to vie for top spot in the pool.

The host team was much too strong for the visitors, who were not able to mount any serious resistance against their rivals. The power service of Korinna Ishimtseva in the beginning of the first set allowed Kazakhstan to take an unbelievable 11-0 lead. However, New Zealand found their form and narrowed the scores to a three-point margin. It took 15 minutes for Kazakhstan to finish the set when a powerful spike from Yuliya Kutsko made it 25-22.
