ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 27, 2007) – The U.S. Men’s National Team completed the third round of the FIVB World Cup by sweeping Australia, 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 on Tuesday in Okayama, Japan.

The victory ensures that the world No 5-ranked U.S. Men will hold on to at least a tie for third place with a record of 6-2 as they head into the fourth round in Tokyo. At the start of play on Tuesday, Team USA was tied with Bulgaria for third place while Russia remained undefeated in first and Brazil was second at 6-1. The top three World Cup finishers will qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Any ties after the final round will be broken based on point differential.
No. 23-ranked Australia, which qualified for the World Cup by winning the Asian zone championship, falls to 3-5.
