Default Anniversary Celebration On The Beach in Scheveningen

The European Beach Volleyball scene is looking forward to celebrating a special anniversary from May 29 to June 1 because the Dutch Masters on the beach of Scheveningen is the 25 tournament since the inception of the NESTEA European Championship Tour. " We have every reason to be proud that the tour has developed so exceptionally well", Hinnerk Femerling Managing Director of Operations at Global Sports Marketing, says. "A great thank you is due to our partners and their support." The Zurich based agency Global Sports Marketing has organised and marketed the highest-ranking European tournament series since the very beginning. The success story began on Rethymnon Beach on Crete in July of 2003. The first year of the NESTEA European Championship Tour only featured two tournaments - there will be seven this year.

Default High-Flyers From the Midget State

Thursday at the Dutch Masters on the beach of Scheveningen just outside of The Hague belonged to the teams asserting themselves in qualification. No less was on the line than snatching one of the coveted spots in the 100,000 Euros event. Eight teams (four in the men’s and four in the women’s competition) pulled through in the end and will be serving and spiking with all the other top teams when the fourth stop of this years Beach Volleyball NESTEA European Championship Tour gets underway tomorrow.

Default Taking Advantage Of the Home Court Advantage

“Home court advantage gives you an advantage”, the English football trainer Bobby Robson said with unmatched wisdom. This bon mot especially holds true for the teams from the Netherlands at the big tournament. Teams from the host nation already dominated the Dutch Masters of the NESTEA European Championship Tour last year. Teams from the Netherlands won both the men’s and the women’s title on the Beach of Scheveningen outside of The Hague in 2007. An incredible feat they would like to repeat again this year.

Default The Historic Triple

When the historic accomplishment was complete Kay Matysik was not quite ready to rejoice: “It was our big goal to win our third consecutive tournament on the NESTEA European Championship Tour – but not like this.” Matysik and his partner Stefan Uhmann won the final against their compatriots David Klemperer and Eric Koreng without a fight because their opponents were forced to forfeit the match. Eric Korerng had to retire: “My thigh was stiff and after talking with our trainer we decided not to risk anything”, the block player said.
