Barbados survived strong challenge from Jamaica
Host Barbados were surprisingly taken to five sets by a late surging Jamaica in their preliminary match-up of the Twelfth Caribbean Volleyball Championships being played at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Barbados.

Earlier in the day the defending women’s champions, Trinidad & Tobago were harangued by a plucky Netherlands Antilles before the size and the power of T&T triumphed, 15-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.
