Canada got the victory 3-2 in the opening of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Tournament, but Costa Rica was a tough cookie, only declining in the tie-breaker.



In the Nazario Ortiz gymnasium of this state capital, the “ticas” were very close to sending their country to the first victory against Canada in the volleyball history of the Central American nation.



Nevertheless the Mexican fans recognized with a big applause the effort of the smaller team in the match that finished 25-15, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 15-10.

As expected the Cubans crushed the Trinidadians in the second match of the first day in the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Volleyball Tournament. Following an easy triumph 25-11, 25-12 y 25-7 the young “Morenas del Caribe” were confirmed as one of the favourites to win Pool B.

Dominican Republic downed United States 3-1, one of the most favored teams to win the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Volleyball Tournament.

Since they entered the court in the Nazario Ortiz Gym, the Dominicans did not seem impressed before their rivals beating them in four sets, that finished 25-23, 24-26, 25-20 y 25-17.
