Default Volleyball picture preferences

Hi all,

I am looking for feedback/inspiration/suggestions for shooting volleyball images. In general I do not post images that do not have a ball in them - preferably at or after impact and I also prefer floor level shots versus shooting down at the court. There are quite a few volleyball images out there that are pre-impact or contain no ball at all. Do people actually want to see such images given a choice of post-impact images? Some recent galleries: SPU v UA Anchorage SPU v NNU SPU v MSU Billings

These are the sort of angles and timing that I have been shooting. Images from the SPU v UAA match:

Any and all feedback or suggestions as to new angles/timing to try for appreciated! I have pretty good access to the floor at SPU so can shoot from quite a few angles.

FYI As I did not post an introduction elsewhere. I am a lifelong Volleyball fan/player that played club in college (middle and weakside, some opposite when we ran 5:1) and A/BB USVBA post-college until destroying my shoulder - you know that when the surgeon tells you that he could operate and have insurance to pay for it, that he would advise not to do it and that you should just walk away that it is time to hang it up...

Welcome to the Volleyball Forum, Troutstreaming. I am so happy that you have decided to join our community! I am glad you are passionate about Volleyball!

Your pictures look amazing, friend. Honestly, I only have one suggestion and that is for the angels. Would it be possible for you to get more upward shots? Those are always the greatest photos in Volleyball. I am not much into photography so I can't help you out much on any other suggestions.

According to our rules, we do not allow double posting. But apparently we only allowed a certain number of images in our posts. So this isn't a large problem, but from now on, unless someone else has responded, just edit your last post! Or in this case, wait for some to respond.

Again, I am glad to have you here. Get in touch with myself, or Trubluefan if you have any other questions.

Sorry about the double post!

Thank you for the compliment and the suggestion - I will see what I can do about getting some lower angle vantage points - for clarification are you thinking about the low angle coupled with a wide angle lens - like these:

or even tighter shots from the floor - head, shoulder, ball, rafters?

This side of the gym is really nasty for color casts and lighting as the gym even though it has symmetrical lighting somehow has a 'shade' side so these do not look as good as I would like - it is also the walkway to the stands so its much more 'busy' to shot from, but I can get much lower angles.

I am getting a little frustrated because I think that I am getting images that parents in the stands with point and shoots are not, and yet they are not selling.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Honestly, those are some great shots.

That is pretty much what I was trying to say in my original post.

You have some great work. Post more pictures when you can .
