Default Calling/passing the ball

I play on a co-ed BB team and we play a 6-2.

Each individual is an okay player by himself/herself, but when we come together as a team, we are a mess.

The biggest problem we have is that team members are not sure, when we're receiving the ball, who should be passing the ball/whose "zone" the ball is coming into.

As a result, we are not passing the ball at all (because players stand there and look at each other instead of calling/hitting the ball) -- OR we're not passing the ball well, so our setter is never able to get a good set and we don't get good hits.

We have one person on our team who says he will go for the ball if no one else calls it, but because he is compensating for the lack of playing from other players, these other players are not learning when it is truly their responsibility to hit the ball.

I am familiar with the rotational positions on the court (p1-6) but is there a diagram or other information I can share that says, "When the ball is being received, if the ball is going HERE, then THIS player has the responsibility to pass the ball"?

I think you discuss this closely among your teammates about the area of responsibility of each.. during our highschool years, member should say "mine" if he'll get the ball. or try to create a set plan. communication is the key.

You should always look at the right arm. Let me explane this, if the ball is fallin' between you and your teammate the ball should pass the player who's left, I mean the player whose right arm is closer to ball. I hope you have understood me. And the setter always plays the second ball, but if he can't make it, you should appoint one person who should do that in these occasions. I hope this helps.

I agree with jaz08, at my school time when we were playing volleyball, if the ball is coming and then who think he can hik the ball well, he would say "mine" so that every members knowed that and could do the best to the team work. If you want you can have a try too, maybe it can help you.
