Hi, I'm in my 50's, great health and just started playing rec volleyball 3 yrs ago, a few times a month but twice a week in the summer. Sometimes on sand and sometimes in a gym. First, I don't know how to navigate this forum (never been in any forum before) to try to find where best to see if anyone has mentioned these things. Also, I tend to have a stiff/sore back of neck and upper shoulder area after my games, sometimes lasts a couple days. I'm still just a beginner and am probably all tensed up and craning my neck up to watch for the ball, do you think that is why my neck is sore? Not bad enough to quit, I LOVE volleyball and want to improve, but it would be nice if there was something I could do about the discomfort. Also, I tend to bump most of my balls because I just can't get that double handed "setting" motion down. I tend to slap (loudly) and usually my hands end up flopping forward. Any ideas? I'd love to do that! I see the good setters' hands gracefully make the ball go where they want it and it is absolutely silent as they make contact with the ball. Thanks!
