there's some confusion about beach vball rule.
Is it legal to use overhand pass to play the ball over the net?
According to the FiVB Official Beach Volleyball Rules on "Attack Hit" (section 17 - page 19), it states attack-hit faults when using overhand pass.
17.2 ATTACK-HIT FAULTS
(section 17.2.5) A player completes an attack-hit using an overhand pass, which has a trajectory not
perpendicular to the line of the shoulders, except when setting his or her teammate.
So to my understanding, according to the rule above you can't use overhand pass to play the ball over the net if you're NOT facing the net or opponent's court. (No sideways volley). Therefore, it should still be a legal hit to use overhand pass towards the opponent's court as long as you're facing the net. ("trajectory perpendicular to the shoulders")
What are your thoughts on this interpretation of rule 17.2.5?
